Principles
Principle of isolation by REFLECTION
The principle of insulation by reflexion is to create a screen when cool and warm air is exchanged, thus preventing heat loss from a house in wintertime and making it more comfortable in the summer. The principles and designation of XL.mat insulation materials considerably reduce, indeed minimise, the phenomena of convection, conduction, and radiation.

Convection

Convection is the movement of air caused by a difference in temperature and density. Warm air, which is lighter than cold air, rises. The less the difference in temperature the less convection there is. |
|
| Conduction

Conduction is the time taken for heat to be conduced to a material in contact with it. The more insulation the material, the slower is the conduction. |
| | Radiation Radiation is given off by any warm or hot material, or any warm or hot solid object from which, as you get near it, you can feel the infrared radiant heat (e.g. cup of coffee, roof tiles heated by the sun in summer, etc). |
